CFL-TSN Deal Makes Patriots Uneasy

TSN holding the Grey Cup is old news from when the deal was announced in 2006. There is no chance that the game will get on a broadcast channel. It could still see a bump of numbers if a greater quality broadcast and crew make a difference. The big news is that TSN may have to bump games to other channels because of schedule conflicts. For those that don't get the TSN alternate feed, that's disappointing.

CBC Flogging Saskatoon Stadium Story

CBC Saskatchewan first aired a TV news segment on this rumour earlier this week. More speculation but no more facts were added in this story published on their web site Friday. Apparently the basis of a story can be whatever rumour is circulating on coffee row. That is great news gathering.

Eskimos Want NFL-style Coach-to-QB Communication

Hopefully this gets quashed. The more you insulate the game around technology, the less appealing it becomes. Stealing signals? Live with it. 20 years ago QB's coming into the league had to deal with 20 second time clocks and plays coming in from the sideline and they thrived. Find more of those guys.

Commissioner Mark Cohon Addresses CFL Fans

Truthful, passionate, and appreciative, Cohon addresses the issues, reaffirms the league's viability, thanks the fans and simply answers the CFL fans' question of "What can we do?". This is probably the best public statement a CFL commissioner has ever made.

US Politicians Concerned Over Bills Plan

It remains to be seen if politicians can effectively block the team leaving for Toronto permanently in their open market economy. Government lobbying to the NFL to change ownership rules and public money might be the only tactic they have.

Hamilton Won't Participate in Bills Games

Bob Young has decided to stand up and say "No!" instead of rolling over. History will judge the outcome, but I can't criticize him for standing up to the NFL in the heart of "wannabe" country led by the Toronto media. He will be called a poor businessman, but a good one wouldn't agree to a deal that provides his market (both Hamilton and his season-ticket holder list) with nothing given in return.
