Ti-Cats Put City on Notice for New or Renovated Stadium
September 29, 2007 9:50 AM
Ignoring their infrastructure for 50+ years is catching up with some cities. #More Insight Into Ottawa Franchise Group Plans

Everything sounds good. Time will tell how fast this moves. #New Ottawa Ownership Hopefuls Move Quickly Into Third Stage of Franchise Bid
September 27, 2007 8:26 PM
The third stage being media hype that this group is perfect and a franchise is a done deal with dates predicted. Requiring an agreement with the City and Region over re-developing Landsdowne Park and a franchise agreement with the CFL means they are no closer to a franchise than I am. I wish nothing could be reported until a franchise was rewarded. At least the CFL is trying to douse the story a little. #Sober Second Thought on Winnipeg Stadium
September 27, 2007 8:18 PM
A little buyer’s remorse, too little, too late, I think. I would be surprised if there is any opportunity for the community to nix the hand over of the club to private ownership. #CFL on Joost

September 26, 2007 8:21 PM
The Ottawa Sun reports that three prominent Ottawa real estate development heads are wokring on a Landsdowne Park revamp in Ottawa that includes stadium changes and a CFL team as a tenant. CFL commissioner Mark Cohon has tried to douse any timelines for the CFL’s return to the nation’s capital. #Umpire Suspended For Bradley Altercation

Sports hits a new low when another official oversteps traditional roles which leads to Milton Bradley tearing his right ACL while being restrained by his manager. #Tillman Fined; Haji-Rasouli Won’t Appeal
September 26, 2007 8:03 PM
Despite the fine, Tillman feels vidicated by the suspension and lack of appeal. #Violence Mars NHL Pre-Season
September 26, 2007 7:55 PM
A suspended Chris Simon started a line-brawl when the Rangers visited the Islanders Monday night, and Philadelphia’s Steve Downie ran Ottawa’s Dean McAmmond in revenge for an earlier hit, knocking McAmmond cold, Tuesday night. The days of the Broad Street Bullies are back in the NHL, but they are not limited to Philadelphia and the players no longer have just leather pads. Everyone decries it in the media, but no one does anything about it. And what is with letting Simon play the pre-season when he was suspended for the first 5 regular season games? #Ottawa Stadium Report Brings Out CFL Investors
September 25, 2007 6:39 PM
Redeveloping the Landsdowne Park area seems to have attracted local Ottawa businessmen with an interest in the park, stadium and a CFL team. Despite the fact that public negotiations have hurt previous bidders, Ottawa Mayor Larry O’Brian expects the group to reveal themselves in the next few weeks. Early indications are promising (I’m always the optimist) when the local group, the city and the CFL appear to be committed to work together. #Lion Haji-Rasouli Suspended One Game
September 25, 2007 6:28 PM
The Saskatchewan Roughriders must feel justice was done with the suspension and fines to Lions Rob Murphy and Cory Rodgers. Appeals are likely to follow and you cannot predict how they will turn out. #Burris Injury Raises Controversy
September 25, 2007 6:16 PM
A freak injury on Calgary QB Henry Burris (see 3:00 mark of these highlights) has cost the Stampeders $10,000 as well as Burris’ services for at least two weeks. Afterwards, the league reviewed the “hit” (Moreno slid into Burris fairly gently) and stated no disciplinary action was required. The Stampeders then released a letter disagreeing with the decision and calling on the league to do more to protect quarterbacks. The CFL promptly fined the Stampeders $10,000 for the comments.
In reality, the Stampeder’s focus with protecting QB’s are a misdirection to deflect from the fact they have no viable replacement for Burris. Protect the QB’s all you want, the fact is players will still get hurt and your team better have the depth to get through it. Complaining about it after the fact does little, especially when the responsibility of many QB injuries falls on the players themselves.
#Frank Clair Stadium Faces Partial Demolition
September 24, 2007 9:28 PM
Demolition without rebuilding will certainly eliminate any possibility of CFL expansion to Ottawa. There will be strong voices that will want the whole structure demolished so the land may be re-developed. Another possibility, though more expensive, is to reclaim the stadium land for re-development and build a whole new stadium at an alternative location. If that provides the stadium experience to attract fans to soccer and football events it may be worth it. #CFL Leads Stupid Sports Rules
September 23, 2007 1:18 PM
The new CFL punt in-bounds between the 20′s rule sparks a list of the 10 dumbest sports rules. The CFL comes out on top with the Rouge called the dumbest rule. It’s unfortunate this argument that the CFL is “rewarding” failure still occurs. Football and the CFL especially has graduated scoring based on it’s rugby roots. Eliminate single points on missed field goals would affect strategy on returns, removing some of the most exciting plays that makes the league unique. The CFL recognizes that kicking the ball takes skill, and if you can kick it far, that counts. I would agree kicking it out of the sidelines should not be rewarded, but otherwise leave the game alone. #Soaring Loonie a Boon for CFL
September 20, 2007 5:47 PM
While making teams more competitive for US players, it also has the affect of leaving no incentive for players to stay in Canada in the off-season and getting involved in their communities. That said, US expansion would have been a lot less competitively imbalanced if the dollar had been on-par back then. #Cleaner Fields CFL Goal

No changes are good changes. Although you have to wonder why the Habs didn’t write Montreal across their chests above the logo. That’s classy stuff. #
