Arbitrator Conflict of Interest?
August 31, 2007 6:01 PM
The CFL certianly needs to review this process with the Players Association. There should be a pre-determined list (say 20) of people from across the country (or the US, even) that can be selected by the player, but they can’t choose anyone who may appear to have a conflict of interest. It’s not that hard to avoid this. #Retro Jersey?
August 31, 2007 5:38 PM
Forgot to post this earlier. The ‘Riders are unveiling a retro jersey for 2007′s Labour Day Weekend game. Unfortunately, it has received a luke-warm to cool welcome. The old style jersey’s couldn’t be reproduced? I am sure there are many people with old replica or even game jersey’s in their basements that could be used. I mean, did some really have to draw the logo from memory? What people really wanted was the jersey with the old logo, pre-1985 when the logo was updated, not the 1966 jersey (scroll way down for that statement). #Gass Suspension Overturned
August 29, 2007 5:16 PM
Apparently you can’t discipline an Eskimo. Perhaps a one game suspension is extreme, but the alternative of a CFL fine is too little. A league trying to eliminate after-whistle incidents, especially involving helmets, should be able to suspend a player and an arbitrator should not eliminate that possibility. #Canucks Unveil New Jerseys

Canadian Football for the masses. #Questioning CFL Overtime Rules
August 21, 2007 5:34 PM
When the new OT format was introduced with 4 possessions, immediately after the first OT game fans and media were clamouring for it to be reduced. Now it is too short and there are too many ties. I’ll have a bigger post about this soon, but the answer lies with moving them back. #Reporter Makes Incorrect Statement About Kickoff Scoring
August 21, 2007 5:30 PM
Not exactly true:
As far as I remember, this has been in place for a few years now. The CFL wouldn’t silently stop awarding points unless the rule was changed this year and I know it wasn’t on the list of 2007 changes. I couldn’t track down a rule books to prove when it was changed, though. Anyone have any idea when this changed? #The CFL has quietly stopped awarding a point for kickoffs that go into or through the endzone.

The dream for this to be finished in 2008 was way off. #CFL Scoring Not Enough
August 16, 2007 5:11 PM
Articles in the Globe and Mail and the Calgary Sun believe the CFL rule changes to increase scoring have not worked this year. (Although the Sun article’s title “Mission Accomplished for CFL” makes you think otherwise.) I would hesitate to produce a verdict just yet. Even though the stats show only a slight increase, I feel the excitement in the first seven weeks beats last year’s start of the season. #Gass Appeals Suspension Again
August 15, 2007 4:51 PM
Maciocia saying Gass “launched a helmet down field in dead space” is like a kid saying all I did was throw this candy wrapper on the floor when in fact he pushed his brother down, stole his candy, ate it and then threw the wrapper on the floor. Only the kid ignores the actions prior to the so called innocent act; the parents don’t. An independent arbitrator should uphold this suspension. #Kick For a Million Expands
August 3, 2007 5:09 PM
Four people will be chosen from entries this year, competing 1 day prior to the main event Oct. 12 to see who gets the chance to kick for a million dollars. A televised kick-off competition would be very TV friendly, but they obviously did not think of that when making the schedule. Selecting the four from across the country addresses the Ontario bias issue, but have them kick-off in Hamilton on a Friday night game and then kick for a million on a Saturday or Sunday game in Toronto. That’s the only way to do it without spanning two weeks. Hopefully next year they consider that for the schedule. #Calgary Discovers The Trouble with Henry

You can almost see the self-destruction coming. Burris pulls them close, gets the ball back and throws an interception. If you don’t have a lead, don’t expect Burris to lead you back. So please stop booing him Saskatchewan fans. You should cheer him for leaving. #
