Task List for New CFL Commish
March 30, 2007 5:02 PM
The CFL video game thing comes up again. I recently did a survey on this for CFLNation.ca I would welcome it but I think it is very hard to commit your resources to something that as a best seller for the CFL would be considered a flop to the industry. #More CFL Commissioner Candidates Reported
March 22, 2007 9:02 PM
I’d go with the Canadian. I don’t think either will be prepared for the CFL owners and governors, sports league experience or not. #Cambpell Says Time to Look at Eliminating Fighting
March 22, 2007 8:56 PM
Not only are players bigger, stronger, etc. but they have been trained for one purpose. The Tiger Williams’, and even Bob Probert’s were trained as hockey players first, fighters second. Now players come in knowing exactly where they have to land a punch to knock a player out so the coach can send them out to fire up the team when needed. When they moved it away from line brawls, Vaseline in the hair and Slapshot stuff, they made it a specialized bare-knuckled fight in the middle of a hockey game. #Hunt and D’Angelo Could Team Up for CFL Team
March 21, 2007 7:30 PM
CFL, if you haven’t got the Palmer group signed yet, at least start talking to these guys as leverage. #Conflict for Katz?
March 13, 2007 6:57 PM
This is why moguls shouldn’t be in politics. You can’t trust their spin. Anybody has the right to ignore facts, but when you are in the public service, and those facts are to your personal benefit, not the city you represent, that is a conflict. #NHLPA’s Saskin Sent Home
March 12, 2007 5:20 PM
Hard to believe the NHLPA still has these problems after coming through the Eagleson years. In fact, it is the only players union where the focus is continuously on the organization and corruption and power struggles. #Simon Receives Remainder of Season and Playoffs
March 11, 2007 11:09 AM
A minimum of 25 games so if the Islanders do not make the playoffs, he will miss 10 games next season. #Winnipeg Mayor, Bombers Clash Over Profit, Debt
March 10, 2007 12:18 PM
With friends like these, who needs enemies? #CFL Approves Eight Rule Changes for 2007
March 9, 2007 8:30 PM
These changes address a number of the loopholes that coaches have been exploiting, safety issues and the reversal of last year’s kick return blocking rule. #Simon Suspended Indefinitely for Stick to Face
March 9, 2007 8:24 PM
Chris Simon of the New York Islanders has been suspended indefinitely pending a hearing for a two-hand stick to the face of New York Rangers forward Ryan Ryan Hollweg Thursday night.
Is the NHL season too long? That is three incidents in two weeks for the NHL. Maybe the players reach their physical and emotional limit and are more likely to snap by the end of February.
#Bombers Post Profit
March 7, 2007 7:07 PM
$2.9 million with Grey Cup factored in, $500,000 loss on regular operating revenue and expenses. #Devils’ Janssen Suspended Three Games
March 3, 2007 4:21 PM
New Jersey Devils’ forward Cam Janssen was suspended three games for a head shot to Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Tomas Kaberle on Friday night in which there was no penalty called. #Coaches Who Squeeze QB’s
March 2, 2007 4:54 PM
Duane Forde has an interesting history of particular coaches getting the most out of QB’s in their offensive scheme. #‘Riders Release Hill After Arrest
March 2, 2007 4:52 PM
Releasing a player weeks after signing him is difficult to compare to the previous regime’s decisions, but it is obvious Tillman is very serious about a player code of conduct. He has to bring results on the field, however, or everyone will claim it is all for not. #Toronto Embracing Grey Cup
March 2, 2007 4:47 PM
Despite cancelling the Grey Cup ticket sales launch party, Toronto appears ready to support the Grey Cup after an absence of 15 years. With only 9,000 tickets remaining, the week activities centralized in a five block radius and media coverage like recent Grey Cups, Toronto’s hosting should be successful. #Remaining 2007 Grey Cup Tickets On Sale
March 1, 2007 6:36 PM
With 30,000 seats sold you may want to reserve tickets now that they are available to all Canadians if you plan on attending the Grey Cup in Toronto this November. #Eskimos Declare Profit
March 1, 2007 6:34 PM
Operating revenue of $13.1 million and expenses of $12.96 million. They may be hurt in future years on salary cap issues after being big bonus spenders before the cap, but they will just get in increased so they stay under I am sure. #NHL Schedules 2007-08 Season Opener in London, England
March 1, 2007 6:26 PM
Following the lead of the NFL, the NHL is going offshore with their game. #Burke Details Tade Talk
March 1, 2007 6:24 PM
Anaheim Ducks GM Brian Burke detailed his activity in a diary for USA Today leading up to the NHL trade deadline. Interestingly he talked to GMs about every big name player available. In the end he added only toughness with the addition of Brad May when he could not provide the draft picks or young prospects required for the players available. #
