CFL Pool Preview Report – Week 13

Wow! A 4-0 record last week. Sure, it was easy pickin’s since the favourites all won, but we will take it. Now on a short week we need to pick the three rematches.

August 2006 CFL Pool Segment Winner

Congratulations to CFL4ever for finishing first in the August Segment of the 2006 Overtime Central CFL Pool.

CFL4ever, coached by Bill Maguire, finished with a total of 78 points for August. That total, out of a possible 208 points, equals a 37.5% pick accuracy rate. Close behind this month was Davin Bull Dogs, who fell short of CFL4ever by 2 points.

Bill wins his choice of either a $5 gift certificate at Cineplex Odeon/Galaxy Theatres or a $2 credit on his account. Bill has until September 8th to email Overtime Central regarding his choice in order to collect his prize.

CFL Pool Preview Report – Week 12

Heading into Labour Day weekend, we are an even .500 for the first time since Week 1. Last week we squeaked our Toronto-Winnipeg pick out as well as the Saskatchewan-Hamilton game, although our prediction for overtime could not have been farther out. We did get the extra Eskimo pick correct as well. This week we are in tough as emotional Labour Day weekend match ups are tough to pick with any accuracy.

    CFL Peddling Grey Cup Naming Rights for Right Price → In response to a Toronto Star report that approval had been given to open up bids on naming rights for the Grey Cup game, the CFL confirmed it is being looked at and did not deny approval had been received to open the bidding process. Another cash cow private owners want an expansion team to pay for, but is not theirs to sell. Such money should go towards promoting the Canadian game, for example towards a stadium in the Maritimes, instead of towards the bottom line of the private owners. #
