10 Questions For WASC

Overtime Central sits down with the coach of WASC with 10 questions about pick strategies and where that team name comes from.

  1. For all the readers out there, will you reveal your identity? Sure [For clarity, our interviewee is Greg Kreutzer, coach of the WASC entry. – Ed.]
  2. What does the name WASC stand for? Winner And Still Champion (almost) (although I’m not living up to it) [Greg coached Goolash, the winning entry in the 2005 Overtime Central CFL Pool. – Ed.]
  3. Which CFL team is your favourite? The home team
  4. You are entrenched in a solid 5th position this year. Did you ever in your wildest dreams believe you would do this well? I was hoping I would do as well as last year.
  5. Who do you model your picks after? The Overtime Central CFL Pool Preview Report
  6. If you could have dinner with three other pool entry coaches, living or dead, who would they be? CFL Forever, Davin Bulldogs and Faragagalli’s Average Joes, if only to learn their secrets.
  7. What is your pick motto? Pick the home team (usually).
  8. How many times have you missed the pick deadline? There’s a deadline? Is that [why] some of my picks don’t get entered? When did you come up with that?
  9. Rumour has it that your entry is shadow-picked by someone else. Are you really that much of a hands-off coach? I have been learning more of the nuances of score picking from my mentor and have slowly been taking over more of the responsibility.
  10. Can we expect you to make a run at the title this year or have you shown all you got? No, I’m out of gas.

looking for theories and tips – here’s one that’s still true from the start of the regular season. I know the riders were, until this last week, in the pattern of lose, win, lose, win, lose, win, etc.

But my pet theory which also works is that the Riders lose if there’s a thursday game that week. So based on that we’ll win here against hamilton, then lose in hamilton. Then since there are no more thurs games, we’ll win the rest of the regular season games (that’s 8 in a row)!

That’ll make us 12 and 6 which I think will put us in good shape for the playoffs!

    You heard it here first!

    Now let’s hope that it’s true! :)

Thanks for the tip Bill. I see you are keeping the trick to picking the other 3/4’s of the results a secret. I guess you don’t want to relinquish first place.

But how do we pick the right score (or even close)? That is the greater challenge.

Ouija board, crystal ball, tea leaves – it’s all good :)

Frank Clair Stadium Faces Partial Demolition → Demolition without rebuilding will certainly eliminate any possibility of CFL expansion to Ottawa. There will be strong voices that will want the whole structure demolished so the land may be re-developed. Another possibility, though more expensive, is to reclaim the stadium land for re-development and build a whole new stadium at an alternative location. If that provides the stadium experience to attract fans to soccer and football events it may be worth it. #
